The Life Design Coaching Certification equips coaches and people-development professionals with practical coaching tools to help individuals navigate career transitions, life decisions, uncertainty and change.

The Life Design Coaching Certification equips coaches and people-development professionals with practical coaching tools to help individuals navigate career transitions, life decisions, uncertainty and change.
Many people today face questions such as:
• Should I stay, pivot or reinvent my career?
• How do I find greater purpose and meaning in my work?
• What should my next chapter look like?
• How do I make difficult life decisions with confidence?
• How can I move forward when I feel stuck?
Life Design Coaching helps individuals approach these questions using the mindset and tools of a designer — viewing life not as a problem to solve, but as a journey to be explored through curiosity, experimentation and action.
Rather than providing advice, Life Design Coaches help clients build awareness, generate possibilities and take purposeful steps toward a well-designed life.
The Life Design Coaching certification is more than a workshop. It is an opportunity to join a global community of practitioners helping others navigate life’s most important transitions and decisions.

A Flipped Classroom Learning Experience
To maximise coaching practice, discussion and application during the workshop, we use a “flipped classroom” approach.
Rather than spending classroom time on lectures, participants complete pre-learning before attending so that our in-person sessions can focus on practice, reflection, coaching conversations and feedback.
This allows for deeper learning, richer discussion and greater application to real-life coaching situations.
Pre-Workshop Preparation
Participants should expect approximately 7–8 hours of pre-work prior to attending.
This includes:
• Pre-recorded learning modules
• Reflection exercises and written assignments
• Review of Designing Your Life tools and frameworks
• Preparation of coaching case studies for workshop practice
Participants are strongly encouraged to complete all pre-work before the workshop begins.
Participant Preparation
Prior to the programme, participants will be asked to:
• Submit a short professional biography and profile photo
• Prepare three coaching case studies from their own practice
• Review workshop materials and workbook
• Complete certification documentation and agreements
In-Person Workshop Experience
Over two highly interactive days, participants will:
• Learn directly from Bill Burnett and Mark Wee
• Observe live coaching demonstrations
• Practise Life Design Coaching tools in small groups
• Apply the methodology to real coaching situations
• Receive peer and faculty feedback
• Explore how to integrate Life Design principles into their own coaching practice
The workshop is intentionally experiential, practical and highly participatory.
Estimated Time Commitment
Pre-learning modules: 5–6 hours
Certification pre-work: 7–8 hours
In-person workshop: 16 hours

Executive Director of the Stanford Life Design Lab, co-founder of the Designing Your Life movement, and co-author of the international bestselling books Designing Your Life and Designing Your New Work Life.
After years of drawing cars and airplanes under his Grandmother’s sewing machine, Bill Burnett went off to Stanford University and discovered, much to his surprise, that there were people in the world who did this kind of thing everyday (without the sewing machine) and they were called designers. Forty-five years, five companies, and a couple of thousand students later Bill is still drawing and building things, teaching others how to do the same, and quietly enjoying the fact that no one has discovered that he is having too much fun.
Bill Burnett is also an Adjunct Professor and the Executive Director of the Life Design Lab at Stanford. He received his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Product Design at Stanford and has worked in start-ups and Fortune 100 companies, including seven years at Apple designing award-winning laptops and a number of years in the toy industry designing Star Wars action toys. He holds a number of mechanical and design patents and design awards, and, in addition to his duties at Stanford and the Institute, he advises several of his students’ startup companies.

Co-Founder and CEO of Designing Your Life Global, Stanford-trained Life Design facilitator, educator and experience designer. Mark has facilitated Designing Your Life programmes for organisations including Google, Hapag-Lloyd, Workforce Singapore, Temasek and numerous educational institutions across Asia.
Mark is a design thinking and experience design pioneer in Singapore who believes that good design can change the world, and that creativity is the key to Singapore’s future. He passionately believes that everyone should be able to design a meaningful and purposeful life, and that a design mindset is the key.
Mark was previously the Executive Director of the Design Singapore Council from 2018-2022, where he led the Council in driving and implementing national policies on design to make Singapore an innovation-driven economy and a more loveable city. Since leaving public service, Mark has been redesigning his own life.
Also an award winning architect and a practicing artist, Mark illustrates his view of the world around him in his own colorful and childlike style, and also still selectively practices under his firm ANNEX A.
